Week 2 ~ We have an amazing group of kids in our preschool class! Mrs. Nichole and I are starting to see their personalities coming out more and more. :) Thank you for sharing your child with us. They make us laugh and smile every day with something new. It's wonderful to watch them making new friends and playing nicely together! Your child will be checking out one book from the library during library class every Thursday. Please take good care of our books and have fun reading them together. Library books are due on every Wednesday.

Our letter "A" craft~using our thumbprints we made ants on an A during our first week of preschool!

Here are a few pictures of our latest craft. We love to use their art work to decorate our classroom and to use as visual reminders! We will send home most of their creations during review weeks. Review weeks are built into our school year every 4th week of school to go over the previous 3 weeks material. 

We read "Noah's Bark" during storytime and created our own arks!

The story of Noah and his Ark was a great way to learn about pairs and the number "2".

 We love practicing our writing skills by creating the letter "V" on the art easel!

You might have heard about our visitor while we were on the playground. This hawk came by and was not at all intimidated by our herd of preschoolers!! 

Next week:

• Next week we will be focusing on the letter "W", the number "3", the shape SQUARE, the color WHITE and starting a new unit about FARM.
• Our bible verse next week will be: "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord" Psalm 27:14
• Homework starts! Your child will bring home a homework paper on each Tuesday. It is to be completed at home with your help :) please send it in once it is completed in their HEART binder. 
• Our happy camper of the week will be Henry Bartow!
• Wednesday is WACKY WEDNESDAY!!! Wear your wackiest clothes and hair to school! :)
• Library books are due on WEDNESDAYS!
• Wear WHITE to school on Thursday!

Our First Week!

We could not have asked for a better start to our school year! How lucky are we to get to teach such awesome kids? They are quickly learning our routines and school rules.

 Here are some of the things we had fun doing during our first week:

• Learning all about the letter "A"
• Making letter As with ants all over them
• Reviewing colors and focusing on the color RED
• Reviewing shapes and focusing on the shape CIRCLE
• Singing lots of songs in Music Class
• Learning about all that God created during Sanctuary

Things to work on at home with your preschooler:

• All preschoolers must go to the bathroom independently which means they must be able to handle their clothes, getting on and off of the potty, wiping thoroughly and flushing, washing their hands without assistance. Please practice at home with your kiddos.
• We are starting to learn about the days of the week! You may hear them singing it at home :) here are words to our song. It is sung to the tune of "The Addams Family".

 We found this large Cicada on our playground! Most of the kids loved checking him out. It was a perfect addition to our Bug unit this week!!

 One of our centers this week involved the kids digging for toy bugs and using magnifying glasses to study them.

 Story time is even more fun around our new circle time campfire!

            Here is Mason practicing writing the letter "A" on our dry erase art easel!

We are learning to hold our pencils and crayons correctly while practicing writing the number "1".

A couple of reminders and info for next week:

• Please send in $1 for your child's water cup if you have not already :)
• Zelma Bailey is our star student next week!! Please send in a snack everyday for 14 students.
• Starting next week we would like for the kids to wear the color of the week on Thursdays! Send your kiddo to school next Thursday in PURPLE if possible.
• Our letter of the week will be "V".
• Our number of the week will be "2".
• We will also be focusing on the TRIANGLE and the color PURPLE.
• Next week's bible verse is: "Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord" Romans 12:19

Welcome to Camp Learn-A-Lot!

Welcome to our classroom blog! Here we will share pictures, events, important dates and information about our classroom. You can find a link on the private Home For Your Heart parent's page on Facebook every time I post a new blog.

We are super busy getting ready for our camping preschool classroom this year! We can't wait to meet everyone at Open House Night on August 16th. Don't forget if your last name begins with A-M please arrive at 6:00pm and you will hear announcements from your teachers at 6:30pm. If your last name begins with N-Z please arrive at 7:00pm and you will hear announcements from your teachers at 7:30pm. Both announcements will take place in our classroom 107 located in the gym. Please bring your completed HFYH paperwork and school supplies to Open House Night!

Our Supply List:
~ 2 containers of Clorox wipes
~ 2 packages of baby wipes
~ 2 rolls of paper towels
~ 1 package of paper plates
~ 8 large Elmer's glue sticks
~ 4 count dry erase markers
~ 2 primary (fat) pencils
~ 8 count Crayola Markers

We will also have a Giving Tree hanging up on our tree. The Giving Tree will have leaves with items listed that we would love to have for our classroom. If you would like to donate any items listed on the Giving Tree please take a leaf during your visit at Open House Night and return it with your donated items!
